The secret behind Scrat acorn [free crochet pattern]

Let me tell you the story about Scrat acorn…

Once upon a time, there was an acorn…

…and a little squirell named Scrat who loved acorns !

“This one is nice and big” he said, “I’ll bring it home”.

But a few minutes later, the acorn fell down and broke…

Here is the picture took a few seconds after :

We don’t really know wether that meant :

– “I’m rich”
– “Yeaaah, mazafaka”

or :

– “I’m a plane”.

– The End –

Ok…I must admit I’m not that good as a story teller :(

As I think I’m better with my crochet hook, here is the pattern of Scrat accorn, secret hiding place version !

Note : A free pattern for Scrat is available on Greatgreycrochet blog, you can read my review in the “pattern from other website n°6” !

Material :

– Beige and brown sport weight yarn (I used Drops Safran)
– 2,5 mm crochet hook (C/2)

Abbreviations :

ch : chain
sc : single crochet
slst : slip stitch
st : stitch
inc : increase (2sc in one stitch)
dec : decrease (crochet 2 stitches together)
BLO : back loop only
(…,….)*x : repeat “x” number of times the instructions between brackets.

Notes :

– I work in continuous rounds, do not join unless told to
– I’ve already shifted the increases as explained here so they would be less visible.
– The container (beige) is crocheted on the right side while the cover is crocheted on the wrong side because its texture looks like the acorn cupule. You can read this article if you have trouble distinguish the side of a work.
